“Our family had been looking to get family photos, and we wanted someone who made work that was expressive and authentic. I don’t care for how staged family photos feel emotionless and stiff. My biggest fear was that we were all going to feel too uncomfortable in front of the camera to let loose and be ourselves... but then we found Halle!
So there we were in the woods with a wagon full of props that meant so much to us, and wondering how we’d be able to incorporate everything I wanted in a photo shoot. Luckily for us, Halle’s natural ability to make us feel seen, calm and present resulted in the documentation of such raw moments between our family. Instead of strict posing, Halle gave us playful prompts and then stood back to capture the natural flow and playfulness of our family. The sun was setting as we played music together and laughed non stop under gorgeous tree shaded meadow - it was a truly magical experience.
Shortly after our session, Halle notified us our photos were ready & came over to deliver our gallery in person. I distinctly remember the feeling of opening our gallery- there we were, with all of our inside jokes and quirks captured so artfully in these images. Halle blew us away and exceeded any expectations we had for the session. I highly recommend Halle to everyone, no matter the occasion. “Halle has the skills to properly direct you into natural poses and angles, all while remaining gentle and taking their time to do so; personally creating some of my favorite photos. My session was intimate, while perfectly comfortable. “Halle is one of those people who can find a way to immediately connect to everyone and everything around them, from adults to dogs to babies to nature. They have a natural ability to read people as well as the environment they’re in and we think this is what makes them such a wonderful destination wedding photographer. We took a risk hiring a photographer who had never been to San Francisco before, but we’re so glad we did! Halle rose above the cliches you often see in SF wedding and engagement photos, so many of which cause the couple to be dwarfed by the city’s amazing sights. Instead, they focused on the energy we had as a couple and used their fresh perspective of the city’s mood and beauty to frame us. They were very open to suggestion, but we honestly deferred to them the vast majority of the time because their artistic eye is so sharp, thoughtful, and insightful. Predictably, the SF weather was problematic, but Halle never got discouraged and they worked SO FAST that they amazingly managed to make the wind and fog work to their advantage before it destroyed our hair! We are both shy to get our photo taken, but you would never know it from the photos Halle took. They made us feel so comfortable and their direction was so gentle that we honestly sometimes would just get lost in the moment and forget we were “posing.” In fact our time taking photos with Halle made for some of the most romantic times we shared during our wedding weekend! We would absolutely recommend Halle to anyone getting married or wanting photos taken for any reason anywhere! They are a fearless and smart traveler. Halle is open and genuine in their interactions and that clearly translates to their photography. They are extremely trustworthy and self-sufficient, which we think is also very important for travel photography. Halle is a true Earth Mama— they are in tune with their surroundings, so they can blend in wherever, but they also have a quiet strength about them that makes you feel like you can depend on them to get the job done, no matter the circumstance. This is what they did for us and we are so grateful to them for it!”
